The Leopards (6-2 overall, 4-1 in district) can lock up a playoff spot with a win against Wylie (4-4, 3-2), in the last home game for all seniors, on Thursday at 7 p.m. After last week’s rainy game, the Leopards are back on track.

“[To stop Wylie’s pass game] we work on our coverages that we have, work on stuff that is new, and we worked on our pass rush,” head coach Ryan Cox said.

The Leopards defeated Prosper (4-4, 2-3) 31-28, in a downpour last Friday. Kicker Austin Henning sealed the win for the Leopards with a 29-yard field goal with 1:12 left in the fourth. The game had a 30-minute delay due to lightning,

“Of course I feel good about beating Prosper,” Cox said. “It doesn’t matter if [we win] again, once, twice, a hundred times, it’s a win. I think our kids executed awesomely.”

Last week, Wylie beat Sherman (1-7, 0-5) 52-12, holding the lead the entire game. Quarterback Emilio Ames threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns. The leading rusher was running back Tobi Adewole who ran for 73 yards and one score. Receiver Tyrell Mauzy caught for 116 and one touchdown.

With the game moved up to Thursday due to the threat of rain, the team had to adjust practice schedules.

“For the first two days we had normal practice, and Wednesday we combined normal practice and our walk through together,” senior Nick Parker said.

Senior quarterback Bowman Sells, with 30 total touchdowns on the season, threw for two scores and ran in for another. His final score in the third quarter tied up the game 28-28. Senior Nick Parker finished the game with 133 yards receiving and two overall scores; one receiving and one rushing.
