The golf teams travel to Woodbridge Golf Club in Wylie on Wednesday, Oct. 21 for their second tournament of the season, hosted by Forney High School.

In the Rockwall Fall Invitational on Sept. 29, the boys placed sixth and the girls placed fifth overall. For the girls, sophomore Katie Dragoo and senior Abby Martin finished 12th and 13th respectively. Freshman Allie Bianchi finished 21st. For the boys sophomore Jonah Barton finished in 16th and senior and varsity captain Tucker Devinny placed 19th. Senior Nate Wutzke finished in 26th place.

“I played alright in our last tournament,” Devinny said. “But I hope to win districts this year and try and go to state.”

The golf teams have three tournaments left. Although Lovejoy is in a difficult district, first-year coach Brent Moseley feels that this year’s team can finish strong.

“I really like the new golf coach,” Martin said. “It was a nice change to the program. He brought a lot of new practice techniques. He’s just been helpful in general.”

Bianchi said she’s hopeful about the team’s chances.

“I think we have a shot at district as long as we keep working hard because we all care about golf,” Bianchi said.

On Nov. 3, the school  will host a tournament at Heritage Ranch. After that, they’ll have six days to prepare for their last tournament at Watters Creek on Nov. 9.
