Key Club and the library are hosting a book drive through Oct. 23, and donation bins can be found in the commons, the library and by the reception. All the books donated will go to lower income homes or schools in the area.

Librarian Emma McDonald said the event was in conjunction with Teen Read Week.

“So they started the book drive on Oct. 16 and it goes all the way through the 23rd,” McDonald said. “They are trying to have students donate books and then we’re going to give those books to a local school that is a Title One, high needs school or to an organization in downtown Dallas that hosts an after school reading program.”

With each book donated, the student who donated will get two points, McDonald said. Along with the activities going along with Teen Read Week, the two students with the highest amount of points will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate.

“The Key Club wanted to host a book drive, and it was perfect timing to do it with the library,” senior Key club president Julia Vastano said. “Everyone should go donate their gently used books.”
