The theatre department will be collecting socks for the Samaritan’s Inn. The collection is part of Kid President’s Socktober and will last for the duration of the month.

The theatre department has taken a step to take part in the nationwide movement initiated by Kid President and Soulpancake called Socktober. This campaign started four years ago and grew to be a part of 10,000 communities across the country. Their goal, this year, is to reach 2 million participants.

Each drive donates its collection to a local shelter, so the Theater Department has decided to use the Samaritan Inn Emergency Shelter in McKinney as their recipient. The sock drive will run until the end of October and the collection box is located in the commons.

“I think it’s really cool that our program is able to reach out to other people and help people,” sophomore Lauren Latour said. “I’m excited to see how many socks we get and how many people we can get to participate. I hope we have a great turnout because the Samaritan Inn deserves it.”
