For the third straight year the Leopard softball team is facing Ennis in the playoffs. Winning game one in the best of three game series 4-2 Wednesday, the two teams face off again Friday at Rockwall High School starting at 7 p.m.

The Red Ledger’s Darby Blaylock caught up with senior Catlin Foster for the following Q&A.

The Red Ledger: What makes this series so difficult?

Foster: “Ennis is our biggest rival. Because sophomore year we beat them and went to state. Last year we lost to them and they went to state, so it’s kind of the defining game.”

The Red Ledger: Do you think if you can defeat Ennis you will take state?

Foster: “Oh yea, without a doubt yes.”

The Red Ledger: How did Wednesday’s game go?

Foster: “We won 4-2.  She’s a slower pitcher so that was really hard to adjust. But we ended up adjusting very well and I think on Friday we will get more hits.”

The Red Ledger: Does your game plan change?

Foster: “No it stays the same, go have fun and hit.”

The Red Ledger: If you win this, how many more rounds until state?

Foster: “Three more”

The Red Ledger: How does it feel being your last run at high school softball?

Foster: “It’s kinda bittersweet but I’m really excited about it now. There’s a potential chance we will have to graduate on the field, it’s exciting, it’s cool, no one else can say they graduated on the field, but then again you want to walk across the stage.”
