Freshman and sophomores will be taking their respective ELA STAAR tests on Monday, while sophomores will be doing the same thing on Wednesday. A state requirement to graduate, school officials are confident students will do well.

“Students at Lovejoy are prepared very well for the test,” counselor Amanda Breeden said. “For the test itself, I don’t know if it’s easy or hard, but I know it’s long and really thorough. And this is the one where you write essays and do short answers. So it does take a lot of time. “

All testing on both Monday and Wednesday will take place in B-Hall with all normals classes being displaced through 6th period as there is a 5 hour limit on the test.

“Last year we had students take at least four hours like generally across the whole board,” Breeden said.

While testing is taking place, all other classes will take place as normal.
