With the bowling team heading to state, senior Mario Sinacola talks about the teams’ journey and his personal preparation for the successful season.

The Red Ledger: How has this season been?

Sinacola: “Our season was great! This year was our first year at regionals but we [the boys] fell just short on making it to the state tournament.”

The Red Ledger: What made you want to join the bowling team?

Sinacola: “My sophomore year was the first year that the bowling team started and me and a couple of friends thought that it would be fun to join the team and get to hang out with other bowlers.”

The Red Ledger: What’s your best score?

Sinacola: “This year I had two 200 games the first one was in a practice and that was a 204 and then I got a 215 in a match.”

The Red Ledger: How do “games or meets” work?

Sinacola: “Our games start off with all of the bowlers bowling 2 individual games, and then we do 3 bakers games. A bakers game is when we have 5 bowlers on one game. So the first bowler bowls the 1st and 6th frame, then the second bowler bowls the 2nd and 7th and then so on and so forth. Usually our matches are at Allen Bowl, but occasionally we have some matches at Plano Super Bowl.”

The Red Ledger: How and when do you practice?

Sinacola: “For the most part, we have our practices at Allen Bowl from 8-9:30 p.m.”
