To get ready for choir’s Solo and Ensemble competition on Saturday at Plano East Senior High School, there will be a free recital Thursday in the Lecture Hall. The recital will be split into three sections, starting at 4:45 p.m, 6:00 p.m and 7:15 p.m.

“The solo and ensemble recital is great because you get to hear what everybody in the whole choir is doing because all 180 students, minus a couple, are singing in ensembles,” choir director Christopher Mason said.

The choir students will be singing a mixture of small treble ensembles and madrigals in groups of 4-8 singers performing a cappella and accompanied, as well as select voice students performing their solos.

“You get to hear freshmen who are just starting off and then groups that have sung together for seven years,” Mason said. “It’s a really exciting time for great poetry, playful music and you get to hear everybody in the whole choir.”
