Firefighters, policemen, and citizens will be gathering together Tuesday from 6-10 p.m. to battle it out fire department versus police department at Top Golf. Instead of $40 game cards, Top Golf is offering them for $10 to raise funds for the Allen Public Safety Recovery Fund.
“The fund helps firefighters and police officers who are injured in the line of duty by helping them cover lost income and medical expenses,” Allen Fire Chief Bill Hawley said. “The event lets people play Top Golf at a great price.”
At the event, golfers can choose whether to support the fire department or the police department.
“When you arrive, you sign up to have the points you earn golfing go to either the fire department or the police department,” Hawley said. “The department with the most points ‘wins’. Everyone really wins because the participants have fun and the charity receives funds to help police officers and firefighters.”
Tuesday will be the first time for the event and Top Golf has done what it can as far as publicity.
“We have been blasting it to all of the city employees and have been posting it everywhere so everyone has the information we just don’t have a way for people to RSVP at this point so it’ll just be kind of a tester to see how well it goes this year,” Wallace said. “Hopefully we get a big turn out but we don’t have a way to show it.”
