This year’s first semester blood drive will be held on November 14 from 8:30 a.m. to  3:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. Anyone interested in donating blood must be 16 or older with a driver’s license present.  Student council is running the event with the help of the Red Cross.

“We have this event because other than it being a good thing for our community, we also do it for student council,” biology teacher Theresa Dollinger said. “They get points for helping out our community and doing volunteer services like helping out with the blood drive.”

The blood drive does more than help the Red Cross.

“I think that this gives really good word out to the community because the community can come out and do it along with our students participating,” Dollinger said. “I think it’s good to see that we are involved in something as important as donating blood.”

Many students donate blood to help people in need, just in case of an emergency.

“I think everyone should donate blood,” junior Jacob Myers said. “It is for a good cause and you never know, someday someone close to you may need blood from the Red Cross so you will be happy you donated.”
