Before the game, sprinting out of the tunnel, number 18 is always first; better recognized by the one with the sledgehammer, Sam Wortham. The Red Ledger’s Darby Blaylock caught up with Wortham to get his thoughts on tonight’s game.

The Red Ledger: Are you excited for tonight’s game?

Wortham: “Yes ma’am we are, we have been waiting for this one (game) since the start of two a days. Last year we lost a very close one and they will be our toughest competition.“

The Red Ledger: What do you think the outcome will be?

Wortham: “I think it will be a high scoring game but I believe our offense will outscore them.”

The Red Ledger: If y’all pull out the win tonight what do you think it will do for the rest of the season?

Wortham: “We will still have some challenging games but I believe we can win out.”

The Red Ledger: If it rains tonight during y’alls game will it make it a more intense and dramatic game? And what movie will it remind you of?

Wortham: “Uh-yes more intense we will have to hold on to the football, and Friday Night Lights.”

The Red Ledger: How do you get pumped up for the games?

Wortham: “I jam out with Phaff and then dance. Before I go out, I listen to the Score from Batman the Dark Night.”

The Red Ledger: What’s the story behind the sledgehammer?

Wortham: “Well on defense it’s our duty to bring the hammer down on our opponent. It resembles strength and the ability to knock someone out.”
