The music was blaring as excited fans gathered in South Side Ballroom for the Honda Civic Tour featuring Grouplove and Portugal. The Man.

Grouplove started off the night full force, blasting A$AP Rocky’s hit “Wild For the Night” as their opening song, fans screaming wildly as they arrived on the stage. The energy throughout the venue was high as they started off their set with crowd pleasers “I’m With You”,  “Photograph”, and  “Shark Attack”.

Fans sang along, danced, and it was obvious that everyone was having a great time. Keeping their free-spirited reputation alive, front man Christian Puccini threw his guitar straight up in the air during the middle of a song and the whole band was majorly banging their heads all night. They also performed a couple of covers, such as the theme song to the Netflix TV show “BoJack Horseman” and Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love”.

Portugal. The Man closed out the night. Starting their performance with their better-known songs such as “Purple Yellow Red and Blue”, the band kicked off their show without missing a beat, dedicated Portugal. The Man fans screaming the lyrics and waving their hands. The vibe of the venue was different as Portugal. The Man performed, as it seemed a little more calm and a definitely a lot more rock, but the fans were still just as passionate about the music with the guitar solos during songs such as “Waves” and the electric tones in “Modern Jesus” causing the crowd to go nuts.

Neither Grouplove nor Portugal. The Man disappointed. Although both groups had their own unique sounds, they shared a common ground in having spectacular performances and satisfying their fans.
