The athletic training department has gone green as the program uses a paper-free way of keeping records.

“We use Rank One Sport,” training coach Susan Smiley said. “It is an athletic management program that all of us associated with athletic can use.”

Rank One Sport is used by many schools around the area and is more versatile than the old paper and pen way of keeping track of athlete information.

According to the Rankonesport.com website: “Rank One Sport is web based software used by numerous athletic departments across America. No matter where you go or what computer you are using; if you have an internet connection, you can use Rank One Sport. Our software gives you total control and flexibility to export all schedules, athletes, and reports into excel or a pdf format. The schedules can be easily accessed by coaches, administrators, athletic trainers, parents, and community.”

“I know more about who is injured and in what way they are injured and I know it faster,” girls head soccer coach Jeff Kear said. “So, a lot of the time, before the player comes to tell me what is going on I already know and can plan appropriately around it. As far as impacting sports in general, I can’t speak to that with any authority; I only know how it has impacted me.”

Here on campus, the training program utilizes all aspects of the program.

“The coaches can keep up with injuries, schedules, rosters, etc.,” Smiley said. “Parents can get access to schedules including directions. The athletic training program uses the program to log daily treatments and injury evaluations. The coaches are able to look at their roster and see who is cleared to work out and who is not.”

This program has made a world of difference in the training world.

“We are now able to evaluate an injury and document the information in Rank One,” Smiley said. “When we save the injury and email is sent to the coach. This has improved communication, making the coaches and our job more effective and easier. Because it is a web based program, I can evaluate and log an injury from anywhere.
