Anticipated releases for summer games

It’s well known that summer is blockbuster season in the film industry, but it’s also an important time in the gaming world as dozens of new games will hit the market. Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated releases.
1. Murdered: Soul Suspect (Release Date: June 3)
The game focuses on Detective Ronan O’Connor, who is slain by a relentless killer. The player plays as O’Connor, who returns as a ghost to try and solve his murder.
2. The Elder Scrolls Online (Release Date: TBA June for consoles)
As with other games in The Elder Scrolls franchise, the game will be set in the continent of fictional Tamriel and feature a storyline indirectly connected with the other games. The game will be set a 1,000 years before the events of Skyrim and around 800 years before Morrowind and Oblivion, with the Daedric Prince Molag Bal appearing as the main antagonist as he attempts to pull all of Tamriel to his realm of Coldharbour.
3. The Evil Within (Release Date: August 26)
When Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners rush to the scene of a gruesome mass murder, a mysterious, powerful force is lying in wait for them. Witnessing the killing of fellow police officers one after another, Sebastian is then attacked and loses consciousness. Waking up in a land where monsters are wandering about, Sebastian has to fight his way through a world of death and madness.
4. Watch Dogs (Release Date: May 27)
Watch Dogs is an open world action adventure game in which players control an vigilante named Aiden Pearce, who has the power to hack into various electronic devices tied to the city’s central operating system, allowing various methods for the player to solve numerous objectives. Examples include hacking into people’s phones to retrieve bank data and steal funds, triggering malfunctions in equipment to distract enemies, and hacking into traffic lights to cause collisions. Players can also receive information on civilians via augmented reality feeds, providing the player with information on demographics, health, and potential troublemakers.
5. Destiny (Release Date: September 9)
Destiny is set seven hundred years into the future in a new post apocalyptic setting following a period of exploration, peace, and technological advancement known simply as the “Golden Age”. In a universe where humans have spread out and colonized planets in the solar system, an event known as “the Collapse” saw the mysterious dissolution of these colonies, the end of the Golden Age, and mankind teetering on the brink of extinction.
6. Mario Kart 8 (Release Date: May 30)
Mario Kart 8 builds on the foundation of the previous installments, leading players through new and familiar courses with better graphics and controls.
7. Sniper Elite 3 (Release Date: June 27)
In Sniper Elite 3, players will once again take the role of OSS Sniper Karl Fairburne, this time deployed to Africa to fight against Rommel’s Afrika Korps.
8. Enemy Front (Release Date: June 13)
In Enemy Front, players take the role of Robert Hawkins, a war correspondent caught up with the Resistance during World War II. The game is played through Hawkins’ flashbacks as he remembers his time fighting the Nazis. Players will see many historical dates as well, including the infamous Warsaw Uprising.
9. Wolfenstein: The New Order (Release Date: May 27)
Wolfenstein: The New Order will take place in 1960, fifteen years after the victorious Axis powers have taken over the entire world. Players again take the role of BJ Blazkowicz, an Ex-American commando and resident Nazi hunter. After spending the years since the Second World War in a mental hospital in Poland, the story follows Blazkowicz on his revenge filled mission to liberate England from the German occupation.
10. Borderlands 2 (Release Date: May 31 for PS Vita)
Five years have passed since the events of Borderlands, when four Vault Hunters, Roland, Mordecai, Lilith, and Brick were guided by a mysterious entity known as “The Guardian Angel” on the planet of Pandora to the Vault, a place thought to have been left behind by the Dahl Corporation with alien technology. Instead, the Vault Hunters were confronted by an alien abomination known as “The Destroyer” inside the Vault. After defeating The Destroyer, a valuable mineral called “Eridium” started flourishing through Pandora’s crust. Handsome Jack, the leader of the Hyperion Corporation, secures this new resource and makes use of it to attempt to “bring peace” to the planet. Now, Handsome Jack rules over the inhabitants of Pandora with an iron fist. The player steps into the shoes of four new vault hunters: Axton, Maya, Zero, and Salvador, to end Handsome Jack’s tyranny.
