Spring break for most students means going to the beach, skiing, or staying at home, sleeping in, and not thinking about school.  For the Majestics, spring break meant competing at the Marching Auxiliaries National Dance Competition March 21-22 in Fort Worth where the team received several awards.

“The Majestics danced beautifully and at the highest level of performance in all 6 categories of which they competed,” Majestics Director Fela Lowrance said.

Preparing since August, the Majestics rehearsed every morning from 6:50 to 9:00 a.m. to practice and perfect each piece that they competed.

“Everyone always showed up and worked hard even if we were sick or injured,” junior Tori Orton said. “We all just worked really hard together to perfect our dances.”

Spending countless hours rehearsing, the team was ready to compete.

“Getting to the competition was very exciting, but the second we walked out on that gym floor you could feel everyone’s energy working together,” Orton said. “As we danced it felt like we were all dancing as one.”

The long hours rehearsing paid off as the squad won several awards including: national championship titles in Large Team Novelty and Officer Lyrical, second place in Team Jazz, Pom, and Officer Modern and Hip-Hop.  They also were placed in the MA National’s Winner Circle which was awarded to the overall top 15 teams.

“We finally did it,” White said. “All our hard work paid off and I couldn’t be more proud to be a Majestic.”

Next up for the Majestics, their annual spring show April 24-26.
