The library is a popular hangout spot for seniors to relax when they are not in class or when they have nothing else to do.

With months still to go in their senior year, some students already have their future secured with early acceptance to this or that college.

It can make motivation a challenging endeavor for some students.

“Getting accepted has made me more focused on my extracurricular activities and not so much academic,” senior Daaron McFarling said.

Although students may not be as concerned about their grades anymore, some teachers worry about it.

“Every year the senior class decides to cash in their chips at different times and it’s always educational for me because if there’s ever a point where you don’t feel like you have to do your best then what does that say about how you’re going to approach your college work,” government teacher Jeff Kear said. “That makes me worry about them when they get to college.”

For some students, academic motivation isn’t a problem as they know that their applications are still under review and good grades are still needed.

“Since I’m still waiting to hear back from my college it’s motivating me to keep my grades up and work really hard so that they can see how I’m improving and will hopefully accept me,” senior Lilli Habib said.
