Popular sandwich shop opens in Allen
February 18, 2014
Gourmet sandwich lovers who are sick of driving to McKinney or Plano to get their fix can rejoice. A new Jimmy John’s location is now open off of Exchange Parkway and Bossy Boots Drive bringing hot, fresh, and reasonably priced sandwiches to Allen.
“I’m really excited for it to be open,” senior Caroline Appleby said. “I can’t wait. It has the coolest atmosphere, it’s like a little college town, and their sandwiches are amazing.”
Jimmy John’s is a healthier alternative to other fast food options in the area.
“The other closest sandwich place is Subway,” junior Merrimon McCartney said. “Jimmy John’s is just so much better and it’s better for you than all of the places on Stacy (Road).”
According to Jimmy John’s website, “Jimmy John’s definition of fresh is worlds apart from everyone else’s. Bread is baked in-house every day and served fresh. Meat and veggies are sliced fresh in-house every day. No additives, no vegetable-based fillers, no fake stuff. Nothing is delivered pre-sliced.”
Before, the closest Jimmy John’s location was in McKinney, 20 minutes from the high school.
“I’m so excited for it to open,” McCartney said. “I go to the one in McKinney and it’s 20 minutes away, so it’ll be more convenient, and I can order it to school.”
Service and speed are priorities at Jimmy John’s, and it’s noticeable.
“They have the quickest delivery ever,” Appleby said. “Their slogan is freaky fast.”
All in all, the new location could be a social spot for locals to spend time.
“They have fun signs to read everywhere and little booths and it’s just so cool,” McCartney said. “It’s going to be the new hangout like Whataburger. Everybody should go.”
The new location is hiring, with applications in front of the building available for pickup.
