Junior Hunter Evans discusses his wrestling career with The Red Ledger’s Ben Carder.

Ben Carder, Staff Reporter

The Red Ledger: How long have you been wrestling?

Hunter Evans: “I’ve been wrestling since seventh grade.”

The Red Ledger: What weight class are you in, and how do you typically place in competitions?

Evans: “I’m in the 138 lb weight class, and I’ve placed high most of the time. I normally finish in the top 5 in my class.”

The Red Ledger: How does the whole team usually do at competitions?

Evans: “It really depends on who is participating in the meet and how we start out. Some days we’ll start out really strong and we usually do well when this happens. When we start out slow we tend to not do as well.”

The Red Ledger: How do you feel about girls’ wrestling? Are there very many girls in it?

Evans: “I think that girls’ wrestling is good for the wrestling program as a whole. It’s great to have some diversity within the program. Unfortunately, there are no high school girl wrestlers at the moment,  but there are a few middle schoolers that wrestle.”
