Three freshman have found a new hobby, but it’s not what you would typically expect out of fourteen and fifteen year old guys.  But for freshman Ian Toomey, D.J. Alleman, and Drew Hinton, it didn’t take much to turn their love of fishing into a money making venture.

“I started burning [fishing] baits, and just making my own, and me and my friends decided that we’d make a business,” freshman Ian Toomey said.

Making the baits turned into a hobby quickly for these kids, having a demand for them from friends.

“We’re in Instagram, and I’ve sold some to two or three of my friends already,” Toomey said.  “They’re made of soft plastic, which is pretty much rubber.”

So far, customers are impressed with the baits, but they have a few minor drawbacks.

“I bought a bate from them because they’re my friends, and I fish,” freshman Hank Harrison said. “[The baits] work pretty well, but they don’t hold up to a good bite.”

Although some say the baits need a little bit of tweaking, this team of fishing lovers are ready and open for business.

“Fishing is just an escape for me and its so much fun, and it’s even better when you have some friends with you doing it,” freshman D.J. Alleman said.
