Some students got home a little bit later than normal Wednesday afternoon after their bus was rear-ended on Estates Parkway going towards Country Club Road in Lucas.

“[The bus] stopped at the red light, but the car didn’t,” School Resource Officer Mark Mitchell said. “Just smashed right into the back of the bus.”

No one was injured in the accident, but the passengers of the bus were forced to wait before leaving the scene.

Students on the bus that was rear-ended did not get home until after 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

Firetrucks and police cars showed up to assess the damage.

“[The bus passengers] had to wait until the troopers had worked the accident,” Mitchell said.
