September is “No Kid Hungry Month” and to support charities that feed children, the country French cafe La Madeleine is offering coupon books and cookies to customers who donate.

The restaurant is partnering with the Share Our Strength movement, which has spread across the country since its establishment in November 2008. La Madeleine hopes to raise more than $200,000 to help to provide 2 million healthy meals to children struggling with hunger and malnourishment.

Customers who donate one dollar to the campaign can receive a free cookie, a $2.50 value. With a five dollar donation, donors receive a free coupon book for La Madeleine, which includes a free 15-ounce jar of tomato basil soup, a pastry, a specialty coffee, a mini dessert, a cup of homemade soup, and a small salad, worth more than$40.

“More than 16 million children – or one in five kids – live in households that struggle to put food on the table,” John Cahill, Chief Operating Officer of La Madeleine, said in a news release.  “Additionally, 62 percent of America’s teachers regularly see kids who come to school hungry because they aren’t getting enough to eat at home. We sincerely hope our guests will join us to help end childhood hunger in America.”

The campaign will end on September 30, and coupons will be eligible for use past that date. The nearest La Madeleine location is located at 2730 South Central Expressway in McKinney. Additionally, there are locations in Plano at 520 W 15th Street and 5000 West Park Boulevard #1000.
