The Leopard baseball’s season was cut short Saturday as they lost two games to Longview Pine Tree after winning game one on Thursday 11-2.
The second game of the three game series started out with Pine Tree scoring two runs in the first inning with the Leopards unable to come back from the early deficit.
Pine Tree set a season high with 16 hits resulting in an 8-2 win and setting up a winner take all game three.
Once again, the Pirates jumped out to a lead, putting up 5 runs in the first inning. The Leopards though, were able to match it. The team scored once before freshman Jacob Parrott hit a grand slam to tie it 5-5 going into the second.
After a scoreless second inning, the Leopards were able to go up 6-5 in the third inning courtesy of an infield error by Pine Tree.
But in the fourth inning Leopard pitching faltered and the Pirates unleashed an offensive outburst, sending 19 batters to the plate and scoring 15 times to take the lead 20-6. Longview Pine Tree was able to tack on 3 more runs winning by a final score of 23-8, knocking the Leopards out of playoffs and bring their season to a close.
