Build your own or order from a classics menu; either way Pie 5 is the Subway of pizza places. Located in the Villages of Allen, the new restaurant is a cool concept but with mediocre food.
The setup is similar to a Subway sandwich shop as customers go through a line and have their pizza made in front of them on the spot. From there, you grab a seat at one of the colorful tables or at the bar and wait for your pie to be cooked.
Unfortunately, the pizza is nothing truly special. Being able to create it on your own is cool, but the crust was cracker-like and overall wasn’t anything to rave over.
Though the food isn’t the best the idea, the atmosphere is creative and enjoyable with good service. The employees are kind and helpful, often coming to check on our table.
Although the pizza may not be the best around, Pie 5 is worth a visit. Watching your pizza get made is fun and it’s a fast meal. Combined with a cool, modern soda machine and some yummy cookies, it’s a good experience.
