After traveling over seas to England to try out for a spot on a soccer team senior Eddie Puskarich surprisingly found his place about 25 miles away in the form of a soccer scholarship at Southern Methodist Univeristy.
Puskarich was not necessarily looking to play soccer at the collegiate level but decided SMU was where he should be.
“SMU kind of chose me because I wasn’t really looking at college,” Puskarich said. “They came to me and I visited and it’s an amazing campus and so I thought it’d be a perfect fit. And it’s only like thirty minutes away so it’s perfect for me.”
Head soccer coach Bryan Jennings has bittersweet feelings about Puskarich’s signing.
“He is a leader, he’s deadly, he’s what we call and assassin on the field,” coach Brian Jennings said. “He can shoot from anywhere he can make a target and he’s also a good team player. He’s always there to motivate others and he’s just a great teammate all around.”
Puskarich is looking forward to being a Mustang and reaching his goals.
“I really to win a national championship and play pro right out of college if I can,” Puskarich said.
In addition to his offer from SMU, NC State offered him a position.
