Recent rain did good things for local lake levels, but along with the positive came some negative.
Last week’s storm brought four inches of rain and that took it’s toll on the school, specifically computer lab B202 and the front left corner of the library.
“The wind took off shingles and that night there was a Grand Slam booster club meeting,” library aid Sandi Petty said. “They heard it just pouring so they went and got a custodian. They got trashcans and started trying to get everything out of the way that could be damaged. There is some damage in the walls so they’re going to have to tear our the sheet rock walls on the far end and take those book shelves out and redo all that.”
The school is hoping to get the lab and part of the library back in business as soon as possible.
“There is no timeline yet because we have to deal with insurance adjusters,” Petty said. “They came out last week and took pictures and stuff so we’re looking at probably a few weeks a least. We’re trying to make do with what we have.”
