From booths to presentations, this year’s Elective Fair, held on February 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., attracted numerous students looking for idea for next year’s classes.
Set in the commons, both electives and core classes had booths set up to promote classes. Among those represented were fine arts such as choir and AP art, core classes like regular and AP math and science courses, educational electives such as journalism and languages, and clubs like the Chess Club and Key Club.
Some of the booths were simple, like the AP music theory display, which consisted of a single teacher, while others were more extravagant, like the Majestics booth, which included two drill team girls in full uniform, and the health science booth, which even displayed one of the health science practice dummies. Each booth was manned by both teachers and students, who answered questions about their elective.
In addition to the booths, there were presentations about class options, particularly for seniors, as Collin College’s dual credit program, only available to seniors, was represented.
The fair was designed to help student make decisions about next year’s schedule.
“I went to the elective fair to get some ideas for my schedule,” junior Erin Shafranek said. “I got to see a bunch of elective options that I didn’t even know about, which was really cool.”
