The homecoming dance is an annual tradition that celebrates the school’s football season, and is open for all students. This year, because of COVID-19 the dance has been cancelled. Students share their opinion about the cancellation.
Freshman Annabelle Clay
“I feel like it’s for the best, so more people don’t get sick. But it’s still sad that we won’t get to experience it.”
Sophomore Sophie Carnes
“Well, going off all the other things they’ve been doing, I was expecting it, but it’s disappointing. I feel bad for the seniors who won’t get to have a chance at another one, and they should do something to make it up.”
Junior Olivia Laurence
“It’s sad because it was fun to dress up, and the actual dance was so fun. But I wouldn’t have a date anyways, so I'll get over it.”
Junior Jack Arnold
“The same thing I think about the rest of 2020, it sucks. I wasn’t planning on going, but I have sympathy for those who were.”
Senior Gabby Jorgenson
“I personally think it’s the right decision given the circumstances we are in. It's sad, especially since this was our last year, and we all looked forward to finally getting those white mums. But, in order to keep our community with low cases and [be] safe like it’s been, it’s the smartest decision the district can make.”
Sophomore Travis Gant
“It sucks to be honest, but it wasn’t a huge deal to me because I was just going because girls needed dates.”
