Dance classes to perform in showcase
May 7, 2019
The high school and middle school dance classes will be holding their annual dance showcase tonight at 7 in the auditorium. Admission is free for all.
“Working with both the middle school and high school students has been so much fun,” dance director Jen Morrow said. “All students have been so easy to work with. My favorite part about being their teacher is anything I throw their way choreography-wise–they try it with open minds and always succeed in the end. I’m a very proud dance teacher.”
All the numbers being performed are choreographed by the students except for the introduction and finale.
“What makes the showcase special is that individual dances that don’t include the entire class are choreographed by the girls,” senior Cielo Ramon said. “By taking part in these projects, I got to make a few friends, and since I was the senior in the group, I got to do a lot of the choreography because my peers looked up to me, which was nice.”
The showcase gives all the dance classes an opportunity to perform in front of an audience.
“The main goal of the showcase is for the dancers to show off and perform for their parents, peers, and in all community on what they have learned all year long,” Morrow said. “It’s the culmination of their year in dance.”
