Annual Running Over Depression race to commence Nov. 10
November 6, 2018
Running Over Depression is continuing for its third consecutive year on Nov. 10. Started by alumni Bradley Davis, the run raises awareness about teenage depression and suicide prevention among the community. All proceeds will be donated to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
“I’m helping to organize it this year because I have a passion for running, and I am good friends with Bradley Davis,” senior Brett Pedersen said.
With the previous year raising around $10,000 for donations, senior Carson Hockersmith said their goal is to raise more and more every year.
“We would like to get as many Corporate Sponsors and people registered to run as possible,” Hockersmith said. “That way we can donate as much money as we can to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.”
The registrations for a 1K cost $20 and cost $30 for a 5K. The event is being organized by seniors Michael O’Brien, Pederson and Hockersmith who are all friends with Davis.
“This project is equally as important to us as it is to him,” Hockersmith said. “We are very excited about being able to organize Running Over Depression this year.”
