“I think that then attributes to the fact that we need to look at all sides of the population. So, for example, I would assume the reasoning for that is that the demographics of people coming historically into Texas were not just the white settlers, but you have people from both sides of that incident. So you would have to think one side’s heroic ancestry wise would be the other’s opposite, so they would have been against them. We have to think about that historically as far as what perspective of history are we trying to teach, bias or unbiased. To say non-heroic doesn’t mean that it’s saying it’s a negative thing, but hopefully it’s meaning that just as historians or history teachers we are coming in from a non-biased perspective to be inclusive of all students, regardless of what their background is.”
