Thankful: Recommendation letters

At the beginning of the school year, college counselors consult the seniors on what they must do for their digital portfolio to apply for the college(s) they choose. One of the most essential features required to apply for certain prestigious colleges are teacher recommendations.

Every year, seniors ask teachers they believe they haven’t annoyed in the past to share some kind words on their accomplishments to very distinguished universities. The most unnerving aspect of these teacher letters is that the seniors will never be able to read them, but they must trust that they highlighted only the students’ best moments.

But when the seniors finally do get accepted into the school they wanted, they realize all the stress and worry was worthwhile. Every year, the seniors are reminded the reason they were able to succeed in high school and will succeed later in life was because of their teachers. Without their lectures, wisdom, and determination to teach us through all of the discouraging times in class, the teachers managed to get through to us all so we may achieve greatness. And at the end of students’ high school journey, teachers are kind enough to proudly witness to our drudgery. Thank goodness for the teachers in this school.
