The 12th annual Lovejoy Country Run has come around the bend with two races for all ages and time groups for ages 10 and under to 60 and above. The due date for sign up is May 4 at 11:59 p.m., and the run is May 12. The 1k fun run starts at 7:30 a.m., and the 5k starts at 8:00 a.m..

The 5k race and 1k fun run will start and end in the parking lot behind the school’s courtyard. Both runs are for any age, but children under 10 are recommended to run the 1k fun run, which is about .62 of a mile.

“The 1k Fun Run was especially designed to get the younger Lovejoy students and younger community members excited about exercising and participating in group activities,” coordinator Misty Gueller said. “It starts in the LHS parking lot and does two laps on the LHS track.”

The 5k race is about 3.12 miles.

“The 5k race is a certified, professionally timed course designed for all levels of runners,” Gueller said. “It starts in the LHS parking lot behind the gym. It proceeds out of the school parking lot, onto Estates Parkway, then loops down Rock Ridge Road and back to the Lovejoy student parking lot.”

In addition to racing, runners can enjoy a free pancake breakfast. For those not racing, the pancake breakfast is $7 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 and below, and free for children under the age of 5. The registration fees for running are $15 for race chip and no t-shirt, but for an extra $5 participants can purchase a Lovejoy Country Run t-shirt.
