Senior head coach: Blake Pfaff

‘These girls are more intense than I have ever seen. I can’t teach effort; I can put you in the play, but I can’t coach effort and these girls give great effort.’

The Red Ledger: With your team being one of the few teams in LPPL history to upset a senior team, how does it feel to be a possible future LPPL Hall of Famer?

Blake Pfaff: You know that’s something that I’m proud of as a coach. It takes a lot of people to win that, so it would be a great team achievement.

TRL: With Hunter, your brother, being one of the most world renowned Powderpuff coaches and now a LPPL Hall of Famer, is there any pressure following his footsteps?

BP: I think there’s a little pressure. I don’t want to let down the family name. I think it’s something he still wants me to do good in and so I want to keep up the family name.

TRL: You guys scrimmaged the sophomores and from what sources say, won 18-0. What did you like and did not like from the scrimmage?

BP: I really don’t keep score during scrimmages. I really liked how our team looked, still have a little bit to work on with throwing the ball better, but I tell you what man, these girls are ready, they’re excited, and they are pumped up to play. These girls are more intense than I have ever seen. I can’t teach effort; I can put you in the play, but I can’t coach effort and these girls give great effort.

TRL: With big name corporations such as Nike, Gatorade, and Kelly Family Farms trying to endorse your team, what do you do to stay humble?

BP: You gotta look at what you’re playing for; we’re not playing for companies, we’re not playing for the big corporations, we’re not playing for Wall Street. We’re playing for the Class of 2017, and this is senior year baby, so we’re gonna win it for the seniors.

TRL: With Weichel and Murad, a wall that would make Trump blush, having confirmed full ride scholarships for PP, how do you keep them in check?

BP: So you know, we have a team with some superstars like that. On the outside it appears there will be some conflict like that, but every player has a role, and every player is important.

TRL: Rumors are that the sophomore coaches, who will be unnamed for safety reasons, were talking a lot of trash during the scrimmage?

BP: We’re really comfortable with each other, so them talking trash, I’m all for it. It’s just good banter back and forth. Good for the kids, good for the support. I was having a good day and they just made it better.
