5. Jerome Valeska (Gotham)

“Gotham” is a show with a lot of ambition and standards to live up to. Given the fascinating lore of Batman that this show wanted to delve into, it needed a character to exemplify why whether or not this concept could work. That character is the one who is the beginning of the legend of The Joker: Jerome Valeska. A psychopath in every sense of the word, Jerome Valeska is the perfect genesis to Batman’s greatest villain.

4. Zoom (The Flash)

After the fantastic first season of “The Flash,” it was going to be difficult for the writers to create a whole new threat for Barry Allen to face and still have it be compelling. Luckily the writers of this series have shown how much they know what they are doing by bringing in Zoom, the dark speedster with the face of death. Whether it’s his looks, his voice or that he’s seemingly unstoppable, Zoom is one foe of The Flash that you will not soon forget.

3. Reverse Flash (The Flash)

While Zoom is a terrific villain so far, the fact remains that the man in yellow is a more interesting character within this show’s universe. He’s a manipulative, powerful and hate filled adversary for the fastest man alive. Though on the surface it may seem that this character is just a carbon copy of the series’ protagonist, he’s actually not like The Flash at all… Some would say he’s the reverse.

2. Wilson Fisk (Daredevil)

Daredevil is one of the greatest things in superhero media in recent years. It’s a dark, dingy, intriguing dive into a small portion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the show’s shining achievements is the character of Wilson Fisk, portrayed perfectly by Vincent D’Onofrio. His intimidation and overall scariness comes from not only the tight grip over Hell’s Kitchen, but also the unpredictable nature in which he acts against others. Wilson Fisk is a flawed man trying to perfect an irreparable world; a man who will do whatever is necessary to save his city and the ones he cares for.

1. Kilgrave (Jessica Jones)

Marvel must have been taking notes from their past endeavors. Since the first Iron Man film, their villains have been mostly mediocre, with a few exceptions. However recently they have been upping their game with characters such as Ultron, Fisk and most recently, the purple man Kilgrave (portrayed by David Tennant.) Kilgrave is a spoiled brat who commits terrible actions that hurt many people, and yet he always seems to find some way to disregard their suffering and turn it into his own little sob story. This makes the audience question whether or not he himself actually believes that he’s innocent in what he does, which is probably the most terrifying attribute that any villain could have.
