The Leopards swimming and diving team is sending a record number of swimmers to the Regional Meet Feb. 5-7 in Frisco after the girls captured their first District Championship and the boys finished second to McKinney North on Friday.

23 swimmers and divers qualified for the Regional Meet with senior Drew Carson leading the way, winning both the 100 yard butterfly and 200 yard freestyle, earning “swimmer of the meet” honors.

The team’s performance at the district meet should bode well for Regionals.

“We have so many people swimming in the regional meet we can hopefully earn a lot of points and score well again,” Carson said. “Because we swam so fast at the meet most people should qualify for consolation finals which gain us points. We have a good chance of getting a few relays to state and most likely some individuals.”
