McKinney courthouse shows classic movies
January 11, 2015
Friday nights are a popular time for students to get together and enjoy the weekend. Now, a new place attracting students’ attention is the restored theater of the Collin County Courthouse in McKinney which is showing classic movies.
“Each film will have a unique activity planned, such as a quote-along or special appearance by characters from the movie,” director of McKinney Performing Arts Center Amy Rosenthal said in an interview with the McKinney Courier-Gazette. “These will be fun, interactive evenings you won’t want to miss.”
The new venue has appeal to local students.
“I have been to the movies at the courthouse twice now,” McKinney student Maddy Black said. “It’s fun to watch a movie somewhere besides a normal movie theater. The environment is a lot more relaxed which is nice. I would definitely, and have, invited my friends to come to the movies on Friday.”
Tickets for the movies are $8 and available here.
Below are the dates and movies being shown (all movies start at 8:00 p.m.):
Jan. 23 – “Blue Hawaii”
Feb. 13 – “Sleepless in Seattle”
March 20 – “The Breakfast Club”
April 3 – “The Big Lebowski”
