Q&A: Lance Boxell

In the midst of his first year as the school’s head girls basketball coach, Lance Boxell sat down with The Red Ledger’s Katie Curry who got to know him in the following Q&A:

The Red Ledger: What is your coaching history?

Boxell: “I coached 6 years at Krum High School, 2 years at Coppell, and this is my 9th year of coaching, 1st year at Lovejoy.”

The Red Ledger: What do you do outside of school?

Boxell: “I have a 3 year old son so I call it babysitting, but my wife says its my kid so I can’t call it that, so hang out with my son.”

The Red Ledger: “Would you rather live in the hot or cold, and why?

Boxell: “The hot because I don’t like wearing jackets.”

The Red Ledger: What is your favorite food?

Boxell: “Pizza.”

The Red Ledger: What is your favorite thing about the game of basketball?

Boxell: “I would have to say just the competition, being able to go against someone and compete.”

The Red Ledger: What sports did you play in high school?

Boxell: “Basketball, cross country, track, and tennis.”

The Red Ledger: Where did you go to high school?

Boxell: “I had a class of 40 at Ponder High School.”

The Red Ledger: If you could coach any other sport what would it be?

Boxell: “Cross country.”
