Throughout the week the school has welcomed representatives from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Art Center in Pasadena and will wrap up the visits on Thursday with the Maryland Institute College of Art. The visits are a result of portfolio day on Sunday, October 5.

“[Portfolio day] is a nationwide event where kids can go to have their portfolios reviewed by colleges,” art teacher Brice McCasland said. “Those schools can then choose to go to local high schools and several ask to come speak to our students.”

Visits like this can be helpful to students because no art school is the same as another.

“The reason all the schools come is because they’re so different,” McCasland said.
