Community park set to be built in Allen
June 19, 2014
Allen’s newest park has been approved by city leaders with construction set to begin next year. The Watters Branch Community Park will sit on the west side of Allen, on Bray Central Drive.
“Our goals are to create a signature sports facility, promote sports tourism and tournament play, provide neighborhood park amenities, and preserve natural beauty along wooded creek corridors,” Assistant Parks Department Director Brian Bristow said.
The park’s master plan has officially been completed with a variety of features planned.
“Design of Phase I is underway to include a lighted adult softball complex with parking and restroom facilities, multi-use fields, a looped pedestrian trail, nature trails, and playground,” Parks Department Director Tim Dentler said.
The park will have everything that has been asked for by the Allen Community with work scheduled to begin next year.
“Construction is anticipated to commence in 2015,” Project Manager Matt McComb said. “ We hope you all enjoy it as much as we’ve enjoyed making it.”
