Senior year is full of goodbyes and last times, but for choir seniors, their final performance will be on their final day as a Leopard as they perform at graduation on Saturday.

“It is traditional for the performing arts groups in a school to perform at graduation,” choir director Bethany Stuard said. “Music is one of those things that makes us feel nostalgic and is celebratory and choir has sung since the very first graduation. I think all last moments are really special so the fact that their last choir moment can be a part of graduation is great.”

Choir seniors will be singing Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon Garfunkel as part of graduation.

“We have actually sung a different song every year, from Lonesome Road to In my life, and this year we are singing Bridge Over Troubled Water because its so appropriate for the graduating seniors,” Stuard said.

Some of the graduating students have been singing together since sixth grade for a total of seven years, making this experience even more significant.

“I’m really excited to be singing with my choir friends one last time,” choir senior Rebecca Bradley said. “It will be great to sing a song with so much sentiment and meaning on such an important day in all of our lives. I think the song really explains how we feel about one another. We’ll always be there for eachother when times get rough even though we’re all going off to different places and starting new journeys.”

With so much time and effort going into each song and student, both seniors and directors alike will cherish their last moment together.

“It’s a sweet time to me because they’re saying goodbye to school and goodbye to choir,” Stuard said.  “I’m always so glad that I have that extra amount of time with them, just the directors and the seniors. It’s a time to say hey, you guys are really special to us.”
