Tennis to rack up funds at tournament
May 9, 2014
Tennis season is long over but the courts will be filled with aces, faults and love as the team will be participating in a fundraising tennis tournament Friday after school.
“All of our tennis players will be participating in this tournament to help raise money for our team,” tennis coach Ryan Cherry said. “Anybody can participate, you just have to sign up. You do have to pay an entry fee ($10) but the profits all go to the team for next year.”
While tennis team members will make up many of the participants, some players bring in family members.
“I am doing the tournament and I am playing with my dad,” freshman Taylor Roland said.
Although some people may take the tournament seriously, for most of those competing it’s a fun event to play with friends.
“I am just doing it for fun, but I do want to win,” Roland said. “I have done it since seventh grade and it is so fun, I am really excited.”
