As spring time blooms, it is popular for Texans to take portraits in fields of the state flower. As local land is developed, it is increasingly difficult to find open fields dusted in blue. However, there have been some sightings in the surrounding area where photographers and sightseers are welcome.
Just off of the Dallas North Tollway and Legacy Drive in Plano at the J.C. Penney Local Headquarters there is a field painted with bluebonnet, and the native Indian Paintbrush (a red flower often found near bluebonnet fields). Not only is this picturesque scene open to the public all week, but also kid and pet friendly.
In Wyle there is a hill (yes, a rare sighting in these parts of Texas), covered in bluebonnets. Almost like a waterfall of state pride, residents flock to this field to witness this springtime event.Lastly, a bluebonnet field near campus is located on FM 423 between Highway 380 and Panther Creek Parkway in Frisco. Near a paved road (and a cemetery) this bluebonnet field blooms late in the season. Unfortunately, at request of the owner of the field taking pictures here costs around $200 because it is on private property.
