After a slow start to the season that left the baseball team struggling for wins, the Leopards have bounced back in district play with a 4-1 record in District 13-4A heading into Tuesday’s 7:30 p.m. home game against Royse City.

“At first we were off to a rough start,” senior John Weichel said. “But we’ve found our groove lately and are improving our record.”

Taking on mostly 5A schools in tournament games, the start of district play has helped renew the team’s faith in itself.

“I think we have gained a lot confidence lately,” sophomore Jacob Parrott said. “We should quickly improve our record and start winning games.”

With its only district loss coming against McKinney North, the team is ready for the remainder of the season.

“I have high expectations for our game against Royse City,” head coach Russell Reichenbach said. “We’re set on improving our play throughout the season and our improvement should start to show in the win column.”
