She is the definition of ‘jack-of-all-trades’. A varsity athlete in volleyball, basketball, and softball, senior Lindy Leggett has left her mark on each sport.
“Lindy has been a stellar athlete since her freshman year,” head volleyball coach Ryan Mitchell said. “She was a big part of our state championship streak.”
While the rest of the volleyball team is now doing its off-season workouts, Leggett has moved on to basketball.
“We had a successful year last year in district while finishing second, and we hope to improve more this year,” girls basketball coach Lisa Branch said. “Lindy has contributed a lot to this program and should make a strong impact again this year.”

Whenever the basketball season ends, it will mean the start of softball for Leggett. It’s rare that a student competes in three sports, especially during a busy senior year.
“I found it difficult just to stick with one sport,” Leggett said. “I’ve always wanted to play them all, and it was difficult to do but my dedication and passion for the sport helped me accomplish everything I wished to achieve.”
It’s not easy to play three sports each year, and Leggett would not be able to do it without being physically and mentally tough.

“When I first started high school it was a really hard adjustment with academics and athletics non-stop, but I’m used to it now,” Leggett said.
When it comes to coaches, none of Leggett’s object to her participating in others.
“They (coaches) encourage it. Playing multiple sports has helped me stay in shape and has given me extra skills to work with in the other sports,” Leggett said. “They haven’t asked me to choose one, they just ask for me to stay healthy and be prepared to jump in to a new season at a moments notice.”
The allure of college sports doesn’t seem to attract Leggett, as academics are her priority, but she wouldn’t say no to an athletic scholarship.
“My priority is to make great grades and go to a college to pursue academics,” Leggett said. “If the availability of playing one of these sports becomes a reality, then it wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot. Especially if I could get a scholarship.”
