The band in the stands

The band is a large source of spirit at both football games and pep rallies alike.

During every 9 a.m. pep rally, the student body is usually sluggish and tired, but not the band. Always energetic, the band is moving and grooving in the stands at every pep rally. Some band members on campus are excited for the steady stream of recognition they have been receiving.

Many members take pride in their ability to get the crowd excited, and they have a great time doing it. They have become a big part of the increased energy and pride at the high school. They often fire up the audience just as much as the cheerleaders and Majestics do. Jamming out in between songs and cheering louder than everyone in the audience, the band is thrilled to showcase their school spirit.

At a recent pep rally Tess Mair was called down from the stands to showcase some of the energy and spontaneity that many band members take pride in. Dancing along side the cheerleaders, Mair let loose just like the rest of her friends in the stands. They arose in an uproar after her performance on the basketball court.

“It’s like a big family,” sophomore Tess Mair said. “We all get so excited on Fridays because we get to have a big giant party together and I really like being able to be myself in the band because nobody cares how crazy you are.”

The band enjoys their energetic performances, but take their reputation and love of music seriously.

“Even though we like to have fun, we know what we’re doing,” sophomore Brandon Whitaker says.

Though the band members enjoy the attention, they do their best to help pump the crowd full of school spirit. Always ecstatic to perform, band is proud of their energy, spirit and talent.

“It’s fun making memories with other people who enjoy the same thing as you,” senior Jayna Donaghey said. “You’ll never live another day like the day that you’re living today so why not do it with the best spirit and attitude you have.”
