Being at the top is nothing new to junior tennis player Anna Dickens. But this year for the first time, she’s the girl’s number one player since the start of her freshman year.
“Anna has been a standout player since year one,” head tennis coach Adam Cherry said. “I knew she would be a special player when I saw her work ethic and knowledge of the sport.”
Amongst the tennis team’s success, Dickens has emerged as a leader. She has had a passion for the sport for most of her life, and all of her hard work has payed off.
“I’ve always loved tennis,” Dickens said. “I’ve played it since I was young and found myself playing all the time whether it was for school or at home.”
Dickens’ teammates believe she is a big factor in the team’s success.
“Anna is a great tennis player, and she is a good example on the court,” senior Autumn Keefer said. “She is really good at bringing the team together.”
Coaches and players believe that Dickens is on her way to leaving a legacy.
“I believe that she (Dickens) is leaving a good imprint on the team and program,” Cherry said. “I think that our team will have continued success in the future.”
