Life at the DAEP: part three
October 23, 2013
In DAEP you are given your assignments for the day with the goal of completing them to the best of your ability. Most of the time this leaves you with plenty of free time. Unfortunately one of the rules of DAEP is that you must always be doing something, but for some odd reason it can be difficult to brainstorm productive things to do while trapped in an aluminum portable.
One thing that I have become very interested in, since about two weeks into my placement, is college acceptance requirements. It seems many students on campus have come to believe that we are entitled to go wherever we may please. The inaccuracy of this statement came nearly 5 minutes after logging onto Naviance. Naviance showed me of where I need to be if I want to go to certain colleges and universities. Most colleges having very high standards on SAT and ACT results. Sadly I’ve come to the realization that some improvements in my GPA are also indeed essential to my post-adolescent success.
Probably the best part of DAEP is the grades you make if you apply yourself. One thing I am very nervous about is the transition back into normal school. I have spent several hours organizing my chaotic backpack into a magnificent set of binders and folders. Spicing it up with blue, red, and even a classic white binder. All with hand made matching dividers. I even bought a hole puncher. This is to hopefully ensure that when I return, I keep my organizational skills I have recently acquired. Yes indeed, things are getting pretty crazy over here.

Great article, but one thing that I would like to point out. You say that Lovejoy students feel entitled to go to whichever university they please. 95% of LHS students are striving to go to a school that is no way a guarantee for them. While some schools that may be some peoples dream schools can be others safeties, the truth of the matter is that most of us are probably dreaming and longing for a particular school.

This sounds alot like my return from DAEP,
I had to completely re-invent myself in order to stay at a good standing point (grade wise)
but, Im glad to see someone finally did a story on DAEP, and how it really does change your perception on life and school.
