Dragons exceed the imagination

The lights turn off and the room is pitch black.  All goes silent; this is the moment everyone has been waiting for, ever so patiently.  Suddenly, the audience bursts into screams as Imagine Dragons walks onto the stage.

The band opens with “Round and Round”, the audience belting out every word of the song. Lead singer Dan Reynolds dashed back and forth across the stage all night with a level of energy that radiated throughout the venue, making for an incredible concert. The opening acts were only mediocre, and by the time Imagine Dragons was ready to hit the stage, the audience seemed to be a bit restless and tired. That turned around quickly however and the energy in the room did a 180 once the main act came out.

The South Side Ballroom was the perfect place to host this event; it was small enough to where the concert seemed personal, yet big enough to accommodate a large crowd since it has a capacity of about 3000. The concert was general admission standing room, leaving zero personal space, with everyone packed like sardines to try and get as close to the stage as possible.  Needless to say, those with claustrophobia would have been freaking out. The stage was decorated with large trees, which featured hanging spotlights from the branches that would flicker to every beat of the massive 6-foot-tall drum on stage.

The band’s vocals were even more incredible in person than recorded and the last half of their setlist was nothing less than spectacular. Playing it’s more high energy songs including “It’s Time”, “On Top of the World”, the band closed with their hit song “Radioactive”. During “On Top of the World”, confetti was shot across the stage and 10 beach balls flew threw the air while the audience danced energetically. The crowd knew every word to every song and would take over the singing during any moment Reynolds paused.

Overall, this was a spectacular concert played by a great band who put on an amazing show. I would highly recommend going to an Imagine Dragons concert.
