Celebration park to host charity walk
September 27, 2013
Instead of the usual kids and parents all swarming around for soccer games at Celebration Park this weekend, there will be hundreds of people walking for a cause. The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be taking place there starting Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.
“My family will all be there to support Alzheimer’s and represent my grandpa who has the disease,” junior Chase Gaskill said.
This event is a tradition for the 20 plus Gaskill family members as this will be their fourth year supporting the cause.
“We raise money on the website every year,” Gaskill said. “On the site you say who you’re doing the walk for and give your money. Last year, our family was one of the families that had the most donations.”
Check-in and registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the walk will follow two hours later. It has already exceeded its goal of donations ($124,230.31) with more money still expected. All donations go to help advance Alzheimers research, support, and care.
