Taste It Tuesday lets students sample sides
September 24, 2013
Students will be offered free fruit or vegetable samples during their lunch period every Tuesday as part of a new district nutritional program called Taste It Tuesday.
For those who don’t know, Taste It Tuesday is a healthy way to provide students new side options, only without the cost. September’s fruit is kiwi and it will provided in the lunch line this Tuesday, with brussel sprouts being offered starting next week.
“I think it’s great,” sophomore Hannah Warrick said. “It provides a healthy and inexpensive alternative and allows the cafeteria staff to see what’s popular among students.”
The School Health Advisory Committee has provided these samples to give students the opportunity to taste and try new fruits and vegetables in an effort to improve and broaden student’s side options.
“I’d never even tried kiwi before,” sophomore Nicole Alyn said. “I think it’s great they are offering new fruits and vegetables now.”
